Most Models Are Not Tall & Thin
For some reason when anyone thinks of a model the image of a wafey, long legged woman appears in their mind. Which is really baffeling, since most models look nothing like that. Only a very small percent of models work on the runway.
When a business wants to attract a family, they use images that show regular every day people. People the average Joe can connect with. Every single magazine or newspaper you pick up will feature tons of models, and not the runway models we have come to think of. You see women, men, and children of all shapes and sizes. It’s the advertisers job to make people feel that whatever they are selling is what is normal, and that everybody has it or needs it.
Magazines are filled with photos of regular people of all ages, shapes, ethnicities and heights. So if becoming a model is your dream don’t count yourself out if you don’t look like the women on Vogue or the men in GQ.

Thank you for reinforcing what I have been saying for a long time!
It’s amazing that because of shows like ANTM and Make Me a Supermodel, people have come to think that the world of fashion/runway is the majority of the industry. Quite the contrary. It seems that people still tend to overlook the whole commercial/print industry, which has always been in more demand than fashion/runway and they look at them everyday without even realizing it.
Great post and I love the photos you used. Keep up the good work!
